The first generation Ford Ka appeared on the market in 1994 and, like the Focus, attracted attention with its appearance. The second version debuted in 2008 at the Paris Motor Show and still looks fresh and original compared to competitors in the segment A.
The Ford Ka was offered in as many as 7 trim levels: trend, trend +, titan, titan +, Grand Prix II, metallKA, digital, so it was easier for the customer to customize the car for themselves. Of course, some options are only available in certain versions.
All Ka models have ABS, EBD and EBA systems, front driver and passenger airbags, electric power steering and an immobilizer. Windscreen wipers, which adjust their operation depending on the speed of movement, also ensure safety during rain. In addition to the trend version, each Ford Ka is also equipped with side airbags. It was necessary to pay extra for the electronic assistance systems ESP, EBA and HSA.
Ford also offered two additional equipment packages. Cool & Sound is designed for the trend and trend+ versions. It consists of a manually operated air conditioner and an audio system with a CD/MP3 reader, an AUX/IN connector and 6 speakers. For all Ka models, it was possible to buy a winter package, including heated windshield and heated front seats.
The three-door A-segment car can be equipped with two engines: gasoline and diesel with a particulate filter. The first engine is a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder Duratec engine with a capacity of 69 hp with a Start-Stop system.
In the version with a 1.3 TDCi diesel engine with a capacity of 75 hp, the customer also received an additional PTC cabin heater. In addition to the equipment mentioned in the previous paragraph, the trend version, after purchasing the package, could be equipped with a manually operated air conditioner, heated windshield and the same radio as in the best versions of the equipment, starting with titanium and higher.
The Trend and Trend+ versions are based on 14-inch steel discs with hoods. They also include the aforementioned side airbags, electric windshields and heated mirrors, as well as a remote-controlled central locking system.
In the titan version, the customer received a standard air conditioner with manual control, and for an additional fee it could be equipped with automatic temperature control. Starting with the Titan version, all subsequent versions also come with fog lights, velour mats at the front and rear.
This is where the significant differences in the equipment of the subsequent versions end, but they are visible in the style of the exterior and interior of the car. The Titanium+, unlike the titanium, has 15-inch alloy wheels and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. The last three versions - Grand Prix II, metalKA and digital - have individual exterior and interior trim packages.
Depending on the version, the Ford Ka can be equipped, for example, with a rear spoiler, 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather interior, or carbon fiber trim and inserts.
